Background
Cade begins this story with his brother Dee and their pet Saint Bernard, Bigsby at Sunnyvale Orphanage. After unfortunate events, they found themselves there and have made a home. In the small Southern town in America, life was simple and pleasant.
Always yearning for more, Cade always had a plan to escape for a bigger adventure. Him, Dee, and Bigsby had packs ready-made to leave one day. Serendipitously, this happened ahead of schedule as they journeyed into the forest across the street from their home and somehow ended up in the world of Ayr.
Personality
Cade’s personality is stoic and sometimes can be rigid in his ideas. In school, he was very gifted academically and denied requests by teachers to put him in more gifted schools in other towns. His duty to look after Dee and Bigsby was more important.
There is a maturity in Cade that is seldom seen in kids his age. This might be due to the weight of remembering life before the orphanage. Oftentimes, Cade can be frank in conversation and sometimes painfully honest. For locals in their small Southern town, his demeanor was considered odd, especially by other kids at their school.
Powers
Upon entering Ayr, Cade, Dee, and Bigsby were blessed with powerful gifts. Along with Dee and Bigsby; Cade was granted strength, speed, recovery, and metaphysical gifts. In addition, Cade was able to manifest energy and enter other realms with the guidance and training of the enigmatic Oracle, and remote viewed timelines... in the past and in the future.
Leadership & Sacrifice
As the leader of their group, he is left with a choice during Book One (available here!) and that choice was for them to either return home or stay as guardians of Ayr. Convinced by Oracle that Earth at some point will be impacted by their decision as she shows Cade and Dee a vision of a monstrous army invading their small town. With this revelation, they agree to stay and protect Ayr from the dangers that loom.
Finally, when moving North toward the town of Irvo, the encountered and defeated a giant Water Dragon that was plaguing the nearby town. Sacrificing himself during the battle, Cade lost his left arm from the dragon’s fire. Gafalgaron, being a master inventor, built him a replacement robotic arm.
